Over 100 statewide business executives and economic development partners attended the Oklahoma Business Roundtable’s annual meeting on June 7, 2017 in Tulsa.
Matt Jennerich, Data Center Operations Manager for Google-Pryor, was the guest speaker. Jennerich provided an overview on current technology trends and the current infrastructure requirements of an internet data center. Power costs and fiber access are critical components. He told members that the demand for cloud computing (delivery of hosted services over the internet) is expected to grow 18% annually. The Pryor facility began operations in 2008. To date, the company has invested over $2 billion in growing the Oklahoma facility, which now employs 400 workers.
State economic development presentations were given by Governor Mary Fallin, Lt. Governor Todd Lamb and Secretary of Commerce Deby Snodgrass. Roundtable members approved updated bylaws, new officers and directors and the 2017-2018 budget. A networking reception followed the meeting.
