KANSAS CITY FEDERAL RESERVE PRESIDENT TO ADDRESS ROUNDTABLE

Thomas Hoenig, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, will be the keynote speaker for the Roundtable membership meeting to be held October 7, 4:30 P.M. at the Philips Pavilion at the Governor’s Mansion in Oklahoma City.

Dr. Hoenig will discuss the role of the Federal Reserve Board and issues concerning the regional and national economy. The Tenth District office (Kansas City) directs Federal Reserve activities in the states of Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming and portions of New Mexico and Missouri.

Dr. Hoenig has held the position of President/CEO since 1991. He is currently serving a full term that began March 1, 2006.

He earned a B.A. in economics and mathematics from Benedictine College, Atchison, Kansas, and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in economics from Iowa State University.

INNOVATION AWARD FINALISTS TO SPEAK AT ROUNDTABLE MEETING

The Business Roundtable’s fall meeting will feature presentations from two young Oklahoma entrepreneurs – whose teams received the coveted Innovation Award at the recent Donald W. Reynolds Statewide Business Plan competition. The Roundtable is an Innovation Award sponsor.

Michelle Witt, University of Tulsa and Brendon Quick, University of Oklahoma – were leaders of successful business teams that qualified for $50,000 in in-kind commercialization services from community businesses in the fields of legal, marketing, branding, web and data and networking opportunities.

They will discuss their companys’ products and business plans and efforts to move their products to commercialization at the October 7th Roundtable membership meeting.

Witt is with Cryptic Solutions, a start-up company that has developed “Red Vault”, a proprietary USB inscription key that protects confidential data residing on document imaging machines.

Quick is with Synthesized NanoCoatings, LLC, a company that has created a patented nanotechnology-based fabric enhancing treatment for use with cotton.

Both companies have great potential and represent the Oklahoma’s growing technology based economy.

OKLAHOMA CITY TO HOST IAMC EVENT

logoOver 300 corporate real estate executives and site location professionals will visit Oklahoma City for the Industrial Asset Management Council’s (IAMC) Fall 2008 Professional Forum September 13-17. The Business Roundtable is a major sponsor of the event – the first IAMC event to ever be held in Oklahoma.

The forum will feature business consultants, corporate leaders, and practitioners sharing viewpoints, best practices, and information about several issues including:

  • The impact of changing political and economic climates on global investment decisions and incentives;
  • Financial issues in the context of corporate profitability and increasing operating costs;
  • Corporate leadership best practices (including CREM) in changing times;
  • Increasing corporate real estate management value adds.

INC. 5000 LIST FEATURES OKLAHOMA FIRMS

Over 35 Oklahoma-based enterprises are among America’s 5,000 fastest-growing private companies, according to Inc. com, the online arm of Inc. Magazine.

Tulsa-based Latshaw Drilling & Exploration was the highest ranked Oklahoma company, coming in at No. 91. Latshaw ranked No. 4 in the top 100 energy companies.

Tulsa-based Select Engineering, made the list at No. 455. The company also ranked No. 18 in the top 100 energy companies.
