Roundtable Promotes Economic Development

Over 140 statewide business executives attended the Roundtable's Annual Meeting June 9th in Tulsa. Speakers included Governor Mary Fallin, American Airlines Executive Elise Eberwein and representives of the Oklahoma Commerce Department and i2e. New Officers were elected and the annual budget was approved by the membership. This spring and summer the Oklahoma Business Roundtable has been actively supporting economic development education and marketing activities – working with the Governor, Lt.Governor, Commerce Department, and many community partners. These efforts focus on business retention and expansion – and encouraging investment and jobs in our state. Major activities include: Paris Air Show - supporting Oklahoma aerospace companies; aerospace maintenance repair/overhaul (MRO Trade Show); in wind energy (AWEA); forunmanned aerial vehicles (UAV-Stillwater); in biotechnology (Global BIO Show); and Dallas and Atlanta site consultant briefings.  

Other special projects approved by the board include: the statewide Governor’s Cup collegiate business plan and FirstRobotics competitions, the Oklahoma Venture Forum, the Aerospace Career program, Governor's STEM Conference, IEDC Conference (Tulsa) Quality Award Foundation,OMRF Venture Capital event, the OK BIO Association, South by Southwest, the SSTI (national technology group) forum, Northwest OK Water Action Plan, and i2E’s Commercialization program for tech start-ups.  

The Roundtable will meet October 7th at 4:30 p.m. at Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club in Oklahoma City. A networking reception will follow the meeting.
