The Oklahoma Business Roundtable, at their recent annual meeting in Tulsa, elected Renee Porter, CEO of Scissortail Community Development Corp., Norman, as the Chairman of the organization for 2016-2017. The Oklahoma Business Roundtable was founded in 1991 and serves as the state’s key economic development support organization. The non-profit business group works to promote new jobs and investment in Oklahoma through business expansion, start-up and recruitment efforts. There are approximately 170 member companies. Porter commented "I look forward to working with the State's business leaders, our Governor and Lt. Governor and the Department of Commerce to help expand and recruit businesses to Oklahoma. It is a great time to be involved in supporting economic development to our state”.

Other officers elected for the upcoming year are: Vice Chairman Robert Martinovich, ONEOK, Inc., Tulsa; Secretary/Treasurer, Governor Bill Anoatubby, The Chickasaw Nation, Ada; and Immediate Past Chairman, Tom Clark, Tulsair Beechcraft, Tulsa.

Ackerman Named Roundtable President/CEO

Chairman Tom Clark has announced Ann Ackerman as the new President and CEO of the Oklahoma Business Roundtable.

She succeeds Carl Edwards, who has completed three years of great service to the organization. Carl will continue to advise during a short transition. 

She will become just the fourth President of the Roundtable. Previous leaders were Don Paulsen, Blake Wade, and Carl Edwards.

Ann most recently served as CEO of Leadership Oklahoma.

Over 140 statewide business executives attended the Roundtable's Annual Meeting June 9th in Tulsa. Speakers included Governor Mary Fallin, American Airlines Executive Elise Eberwein and representives of the Oklahoma Commerce Department and i2e.

Over 150 Roundtable members and guests participated in the Fall Membership meeting held October 15th at the Governor’s Mansion and hosted by Governor Fallin.

Oklahoma’s workforce was the major topic of the day.  

Keynote speaker Steve Hendrickson, Director of Government Operations for Boeing provided a national perspective on Oklahoma workforce initiatives and challenged business leaders to engage in the education process to address pressing education issues.

This spring the Oklahoma Business Roundtable is supporting several important projects to enhance the state’s economic development. Roundtable President Carl Edwards said the efforts help promote entrepreneurship and new business start-up, business expansion and recruitment.
